Hi, Michele here!
Jenn and I were going to write our own individual sections telling you a bit about ourselves... but since we've practically merged into one person over the last six plus years it seems like we'd just be making you read the same thing twice.
So here goes, I am 40 and Jenn is 36, between us we have four kids age 10, 9, 8, and 7 (we often say Hopscotch, at age 6, is the 5th and final child... and it feels like twins!) We juggle kids, soccer, designing, cooking, sewing, husbands, shopping, chatting, and anything else that comes our way. We love all things vintage - fabric, houses, design, dishes, books, linens, pottery, sayings, photos, glassware, furniture, and even some "vintage" people. We talk on the phone 10-20 times a day, see each other at least twice a day and like to say that we're raising the children like litter of puppies. The one true passion we share above all others is our love of Fridays.
Fridays are estate sale days. I wake up early and scour the local paper and Craig's List for the best sales. Then we dump the kids at school and rush to our favorite local coffee shop - Hooray! for Cosmos!!! If you're ever in downtown La Mesa you should stop by. Anyway, after a leisurely breakfast and "hello"s to what seems like half the moms from the elementary school we head out on our weekly treasure hunt. I drive and Jenn navigates... although she has to get "inside the map" so there's a lot of spinning of the map book and twisting of her head and the occasional wrong turn. If you've never been estate sale shopping you can't begin to understand the thrill of the hunt... the fear of the wierd looking house... the elation of the perfect find... and the overwhelming feeling of success at finding the perfect "thing" for an absolute bargain of a price. Then to cap it all off and make it the most perfect day ever.... drum roll please.... we have mexican food and margaritas for lunch! Nirvana!!!!
All that being said, we are not actually the same person. I love football. She loves country home dec magazines. I don't like many people at first meeting. She loves just about everyone (she met her new best friend on a plane!) I play games... to win - poker, scrabble, fantasy football, boggle, farkel... anywhere, anytime, let's go! Jenn, when she can be conned into playing, doesn't care if she wins or loses just wants to have the most creative or unique answer (it drives me crazy!) I love "..."s. She loves "!!!"s.
Well, that's us in a nutshell... so alike but so different... and it makes the perfect partnership and the perfect friendship.
